As we enter the new year, I hope that your holiday break was restful and refreshing. As we enter the second half of the school year, we begin to increase our focus on the FSA state assessments approaching. It is vitally important for our students to be in attendance at school, get plenty of rest, and have complete nutrition.
NES experienced an increase in school grade with the 2015-2016 school year and our goal is to continue on this trend. We are encouraged by the noticeably strong efforts of our students and the focus of our instructional staff to work toward student achievement.
Thus, I encourage all parents to continue efforts in monitoring your child’s school work and progress comments by the teachers. It is truly a comprehensive effort of all stakeholders in developing student achievement and a successful educational environment.
One way of doing this is by becoming active in the School Advisory Council (SAC). This council is comprised of all stakeholders of the school environment including faculty and staff, parents, community members, business partners, and students. This council advises and helps make decisions in moving the school forward in many ways. NES SAC meetings are on the second Thursday of each month and meets at 1:30 p.m. in the school conference room. Please consider joining this important council as we continue to move our school forward.
Best wishes for a successful new year.
